Description: Raw Faith is an intimate and revealing documentary that follows two years in the private life of Marilyn Sewell, an outspoken and socially progressive Unitarian minister who has re-energized her Portland community. While serving a community that relies on her for wisdom and advice, Marilyn struggles quietly with decisions about her own future. As she seeks to reconcile the commitments of her profession with a longing for intimacy and love, childhood memories of mental illness and alcoholism come to the surface and must be dealt with before she can move forward.
As her life unfolds in front of the camera, Marilyn shares her journey with remarkable candor, humor and increasing wisdom, ultimately leading her to an unexpected revelation of faith and love.

Description: On February 4 at its beautiful venue north of Freeland, UUCWI will present the second in its 2011-2012 series of concerts. Returning for this concert,Quartets: Then & Now, Teo Benson brings five other young and talented Seattle-based, professional musicians, forming two very different quartets. There are all kinds of risks and challenges represented in this concert, from performing the difficult Beethoven Opus 59 to wondering about audience response to the original compositions written mainly by Mr. Benson for the quartet calling itself Stop, Thief! The audience will see and hear first-hand the transformation as the musicians reconfigure themselves from a high-brow, classical string quartet playing Beethoven to high-energy quartet--since when does a quartet include drums?--playing a musical fusion of jazz, blues, rock, and funk, a genre quickly becoming known as the new Seattle sound. Quartets: Then & Now will offer a dramatic musical juxtaposition of the old and the new that in many ways expresses what is currently happening in the world at large as we navigate social, political, and economic shifts. There will be cross-overs and over-laps between the two groups in terms of both the performers and the music. The evening promises to surprise and stimulate local music lovers.
